Car valeting & detailing questions, answered

What the difference actually is, what it costs, how long it takes and how mobile detailing works across Falkirk and central Scotland.

What is the difference between a valet and a detail?

A valet is a thorough clean. A detail goes further and works on the paint itself. Our Safe Wash and Signature Full Valet are cleaning services, done with a paint-safe method rather than a sponge and bucket. Machine polishing, paint correction and ceramic coating are detailing: correcting the finish and then protecting it. Most people ring us for a valet and end up asking about correction once they see the difference in the paint.

Do you come to me, or do I bring the car to you?

We come to you. Rinse Revive is a mobile service and the full setup is brought to your driveway across Falkirk and central Scotland.

Which areas do you cover?

Falkirk, Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Grangemouth, Camelon, Polmont, Bo'ness, Denny, Bonnybridge, Stirling, Linlithgow, Cumbernauld and Alloa. If you are just outside that, ring and ask rather than assuming, it is usually fine.

How long does it take?

A Safe Wash is about two hours. A Signature Full Valet is four to five hours. The Ultimate Deep Clean is a ten-hour job with the seats out, so that one takes the day. Paint correction and ceramic work is quoted per car.

How much does a car valet or detail cost in Falkirk?

A Safe Wash is £50 and that is one price whatever size the car. The Signature Full Valet starts at £199 for a small car, £210 medium, £220 large and £240 for a 4x4 or XL. Bigger detailing work is priced by the car and the condition, and we confirm the quote once we have seen it. Gloss Enhancement is £475 for any size, paint correction starts at £695 and the Wet Sand Detail at £2500. The full list is on the services page.

Why does the price change with the size of the car?

More panel, more glass, more interior, more hours. A 4x4 is not a small hatchback with a bigger badge. Pricing by size keeps it honest rather than quoting everyone the same and cutting corners on the bigger jobs.

Is it actually safe for my paint?

That is the whole point of the method. Every wash starts with an alkaline pre-wash to break down road film, then snow foam, then a pH-neutral hand wash. Nothing is scrubbed while the grit is still on the car. That is what causes the swirl marks you see under petrol station lights.

What is paint correction?

Machine polishing that removes a fraction of the clear coat to level out swirls, light scratches and dullness, so the paint reflects properly again instead of scattering light. It is not a filler or a wax that hides marks for a fortnight, the defects are actually taken out.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

It depends which one. At the top end, our wet sand detail carries Ballistic, a ceramic coating good for three years plus. At the other end, the sealant included with a Safe Wash gives you up to about four weeks of protection and shine. Most people sit somewhere in between, and the honest answer for your car comes once we have looked at it. Every coating we use, and how long each one lasts, is listed under Ceramic Coatings on the services page.
